Knowing What The Employers Want in a Job Seeker


As a job seeker, of course there is a curiosity on what employers really want from an employee. Questions like, “Do they want someone who can carry out the ideas that are generated by management? Or they want an independent-minded person?†may arise.

Here are some of the standard qualifications on what do employers want for their potential employee:

Being flexible.

Today's employers want workers who are not afraid of change. Those who have the disposition to
adjust with ease to the opinion, the will or the attitude of others. As an employee you must be able to adapt to changing office situation.

Being a professional problem solver.

No matter what is your position or the type of job you are holding, you will be faced
with a lot of job or office related problems. Almost any job requires some problem-solving skills. Employees who are trained as a solution seeker might consider problem solving to be challenging or even enjoyable.

Being a good communicator.

Not only must you be good at face-to-face communications, you must also be able to
speak well on the phone. However, perhaps just as importantly, you should be a skilled listener. In addition, it helps significantly if you have good writing skills. Since so much of company involves interaction with other people, be they co-workers, bosses, customers, or clients, it is difficult to secure a position without proven communication skills.

Being a team player.

Most employers want individuals who are team players, who will sacrifice their own ambition for the good of other people in an organization. In today's business, no man is an island. You simply have to be able to work and deal with other people-both men and women.

Being a computer user.

Whether you're looking for job in an office or factory, chances are you will be able to handle a simple word processing, email and Internet searches. If you consider yourself as a computer illiterate, try to look for a tutoring center offering short computer courses.

If you can convince an employer that you can do all the roles well, then you will be awarded with a great career opportunity.
