Skin dehydration has many causes. Those who spend lots of time outdoors in hot weather and drying winds will certainly suffer from dry skin. On the other hand, spending lots of time in air-conditioned offices or homes also causes dry skin due to the lack of moisture in the air. Skin can be dried out from using the wrong kind of soap, or detergent that is too harsh. And if not enough water is consumed in hot weather, then of course this will contribute to dry skin.
So if your skin feels dry all the time. Look first at your skin care routine. Change your soap until you get one that makes your skin feel soft. Forget the talc and use moisturising creams and lotions instead. When you go outside, be sure to use plenty of sunscreen, or if you don't have any on hand use moisturiser.
If your hands are dry, start using rubber gloves when you wash up or hand wash garments. For gardening, apply a barrier cream and use gloves as well. Use a quality night cream to keep your skin hydrated during the long night, when you don't drink fluids. In the daytime, try and drink plenty of water.
