5 Steps to Great Skin

According to the universal skincare regiment there are 5 steps to great skin and they are: Cleanse, Tone, Treat, Moisturize, and Eye Care.

Cleanse - Cleansers remove makeup, dirt and germs without stripping natural oils leaving the skin softer and fresher than using soap. Cleansers should be massaged onto the skin with the fingertips then rinsed away with water. When exfoliators are used they come between cleansing and toning.

Tone - Toner is also known as astringent and is often over looked by many people. Toner is very important especially for those with normal to oily skin. It returns the skin to the proper pH balance. There are several 2-in-1 products that cleanse and tone at the same time for those that have hectic mornings.

Treat - Most skincare brands have many products that provide targeted benefits, beyond moisture. For example anti-aging treatments can make the skin feel and look softer, younger, smoother and, healthier. Other treatment products may minimize age spots and discolorations, reduce fine lines, and wrinkles or minimize acne. The treatment step of the universal regiment is the one step where the product can be personalized to treat an individual's specific needs.

Moisturize - Moisturizers help maintain the skin's moisture balance and help seal in treatment benefits that have already been applied. Moisturizers make the skin feel soft and supple and can minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Daytime moisturizers contain sunscreen and night-time moisturizers do not. If your moisturizer contains sunscreen, apply it after all other skincare products so that other skincare products don't cover up the sunscreen ingredients.

Eye Care - Eye care is the final step in the universal skincare regiment. The delicate skin surrounding the eye needs special handling and is more fragile and sensitive than the skin on the rest of the face. Eye products are specially formulated to reduce puffiness, improve the appearance of dark circles, fine lines and wrinkles and, to improve elasticity and firmness.

Although it may sound complicated at first, this entire skincare regiment can be completed in just five minutes. It is important to use this regiment twice a day, morning and night, to receive the maximum benefit from each of the products.
