A little preamble into some highly effective tips on feeling better:
Menopause (and MANopause too) brings emotional discomforts, depression, hair thinning and hair loss, and weight gain, which can lead to many self doubts. And a host of other symptoms. I've heard many people express it something like "I feel like a teenager all over again".
This makes sense because when we are growing into reproductive adults, hormones are changing us physically and emotionally on a moment to moment basis. Hormone hell. Menopause and Manopause brings us into our "ungrowing" stage, meaning getting old.
Bear in mind our cultural programming is the main factor in our expectations of getting old.
Physically, managing our hormones plays a huge part in how we age and how we feel about life.
I am not a doctor, but I've heard doctors talk about this and they agree there are problems. I like to find and share information that may help people.
Here is how I understand the pervasive, hidden, uncontrolled, hormone therapy we all undertake, like it or not, from cradle to grave.
Certain substances we ingest, inhale, and absorb through our skin, sit on our hormone receptors. One example is pesticides. Pesticides, aside from being poison, can mimic estrogen and fill our estrogen receptor sites. The estrogen manufactured by our body doesn't get where it needs to go. We can display symptoms of estrogen deficiency, or estrogen dominance. This does not bode well for any gender.
A newborn who is breastfed starts early on, as the percentage of pesticides found in breast milk is quite high. I'm not going to research and quote the exact numbers, because who cares? ANY is bad. So now mom and baby are on hormone therapy of the weird kind.
When baby (boy or girl) reaches puberty, what happens if hormones are already askew? And please note, puberty nowadays means 7 years old - sometimes earlier. How horrible. Hormone hell, all wrong to boot.
And by now mom and dad are in perimenopause and manopause themselves. So now everybody is in a bad mood!
I can't tell you what to do about this, but I can tell you where to look for the answers that may pertain to you.
***Nutrition. Organic foods where possible. Grass fed beef, etc. Avoid any processed foods, MSG, artificial sweeteners, radio waves (unmodified cell phones, unmodified anything wireless).
***A good liver cleanse periodically. Your liver produces your hormones, for your body and brain. But it is a filter that has to be kept clean. This helps keep you feeling that life is worth living and that there is a future.
***Exercise. "Slow Burn" by Frederick Hahn and Eades & Eades is a great book to read, it gives the clinical reasons to do this regimen, and photos and detailed guidance of the exercises. A great antiaging book, and also, Eades & Eades are the authors of "Protein Power". The "Protein Power" information is similar to the Dr. Atkins information on correcting your metabolism (insulin resistance, age-related weight gain).
***Good purified water and air. Including shower filters, and whole-house systems, if you can do it. An incredible luxury in this inconvenient truth world.
Sherrill Sellman, N.D., author of "Hormone Heresy" and other books on similar topics, tells us that research shows that EM frequencies (radio waves) also change our hormones. One effect is that young girls are getting breast cancer. That is pretty scary! So if you carry a cell phone you need to buy a product that modifies the waves so that your body cells don't shut down, become impenetrable by nutrients, and die or mutate into cancer cells. Fortunately, modifying devices are easy to find.
***Go here for a variety of sources on being safe with wireless technology.
There is so much more. A lot of chemicals, processed foods, pollutants, woods, man-made fabrics, things that surround us every day, act like hormones in our body.
The real question is what are you willing to do for your health? How good DO you want to feel and what can you take on to do about it? Stay on uncontrolled, compulsive hormone therapy?
Or just take it step by step, to inhale, ingest, and absorb the best air, food, frequencies and water that you can get? Exercise, the easiest, best way you can, slow motion, safely, as well as enjoying your sports of choice?
