Home Remedies for Indigestion

In Ayurveda this condition is called agnimandya. Even without a single disease one may suffer from indigestion by overeating or eating wrong food in a wrong manner.

It may result us in a feeling of heaviness in stomach, nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting and burning sensation in the chest. Number of Psychic factors like anger, anxiety and worry also play an important role in the digestion of food. Follow the tips:

* Mix equal parts of baking soda and water in a glass. Drink it as soon as you feel indigestion coming. It is really an effective home remedy for indigestion.
* Mix only one teaspoon of cumin seeds (jeera) in a glass of water . Add only one teaspoon of fresh coriander leaf juice and a pinch of salt. Have it twice in a day.
* Eat half a teaspoon of aniseed to improve the digestion.

Process of digestion is the breaking down of food in the body, into a form that can be absorbed and used or excreted. It is also the process by which the whole body breaks down food into smaller components that can be absorbed by the blood stream. In mammals, the preparation for digestion begins with the cephalic phase in which saliva is produced in the mouth and digestive enzymes are produced in the stomach. Mechanical and chemical digestion begin in the mouth where food is already being chewed, and mixed with saliva to break down starches. The stomach in process continues to break food down mechanically and chemically through the churning of the stomach and mixing with enzymes.

Digestion is the really very complex process of turning the food you eat into the energy you need to survive. The digestion process also involves creating waste to be eliminated.

The digestive tract (or gut) is a long twisting tube that starts at the mouth and ends at the anus. It is made up of in a series of muscles that coordinate the movement of food and other cells that produce enzymes and hormones to aid in the breakdown of food. Along the various way are three other organs that are needed for digestion: the liver, gallbladder and the pancreas
