Acne is a condition that affects people of all ages all over the world; the only thing is that it chooses a specific time in human life to breakout. The common perception that acne is a teenager’s problem is not entirely true because it affects about 25% of males and 50% of women. Do you know that acne as a condition does not only affect the skin but sometimes it affects the mind. This does not mean it causes mental disorder, what it causes is depression in some people. The depression is usually caused by the excessive importance some people attach to their appearance. The other forms of acne are Blackheads, whiteheads, papules, pustules, nodules and cysts but they are quite different from each other. Blackhead for instance is caused when the pores in the skin get partially choked. Their black look is not the result of the dirt trapped inside but comes from the melanin secreted by the skin. Whiteheads on the other hand are caused by complete blockage of pores, and their white appearance is attributable to the bacteria inside, which causes the sebum to turn in to fatty acid. What is referred to as papules are nothing but small, tender, red spots or bumps while pustules are a little larger, inflamed spots that are filled with pus. They too appear red. Cysts or nodules are large, hard bumps occur under the skin. But cysts are susceptible to infection and deep inflammation.
