"He who has health has hope, and he who hope has everything." Arabian Proverb
To find and keep your health you must move more. Climb stairs, walk your dog, mow the lawn, and toss a ball or frisbie with friends. All these activities not only are a fitness tool, but also help you to relieve stress. Think of moving in small doable increments. You don't have to go to the gym everyday or go to aerobic classes 3 times a week. But if you're up to it, then by all means indulge yourself in more strenuous exercise.
It's important to cut out the fat in your diet. Eat low-fat alternatives instead. Plan on eating meals with fruit, vegetables and lean meats in them. It's important to stay away from processed food as much as possible and read all the labels for ingredients. Try not to eat out as much.
Reducing stress is easier said than done. But it helps to spend at least 30 minutes a day doing something you like such as soaking in a bubble bath, going to the beach or a park, read a good book, or listen to relaxing music. Also try to count to 10 before getting aggravated or losing your temper.
Avoid smoke-filled rooms, high traffic areas, breathing highway fumes and exercising near busy streets. Try to live in a smog-free environment if at all possible. Plant shrubs in your yard to deter dirt from getting into your home . Don't forget your oral hygiene. Floss your teeth at least once or twice a day. A healthy mouth is part of having a healthy body. When visiting with friends try to limit the amount of alcohol you consume. A glass of wine or one to two drinks a day can help to protect the heart. But more than that can cause liver and kidney disease.
And of course, keeping a positive mental outlook is one of the best ways to live healthy and well. When you find things to laugh at, your whole body responds better. So keep a cheerful outlook on life and your will find the world a much better place to live. You will also be making the world a better place to live.
