Sleep Apnea Symptoms


Snoring can be a sign of sleep apnea. We should keep in mind that not all episodes of snoring are indicative of sleep apnea or any other potentially life-threatening malady. Snorer with serious snoring problems must be aware of the symptoms obstructive sleep apnea and its risks. It is important to distinguish between serious and mild sleep apnea.

The most common symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea are loud snoring, constant tiredness, high blood pressure, headaches, dry mouth, depression, heartburn, recent weight gain, memory impairment, impaired concentration, mood disturbances, poor judgment, personality changes and sexual problems.

The main symptom of sleep apnea is stop breathing in repeated periods of sleep. Not all people who snore have sleep apnea, but almost all people who have sleep apnea have loud snoring.

There is a difference between mild snoring and the more serious forms of snoring that bring substantial health risks. If your snoring stops when you shift your body position during sleep, it probably isn’t serious. If the snoring continues regardless of your sleeping position, the problem may be more serious. You should also consider snoring is serious if you ever find yourself not breathing and needing to wake up in order to find your breath. .

Another symptom of sleep apnea is a constant sleepiness during the day. When snorer stop breathing or have slowed breathing during your sleep, the brain senses the low level of oxygen and increased levels of carbon dioxide. Then, it sends a signal to resume breathing and cause an awakening. When the sleep is broken, the brain and body do not get good rest. It cause restless turning during sleep and wake up for night urinate.

Sleep apnea symptoms in children include loud snoring, mouth breathing, bed wetting, poor performance in school and not growing as quickly as they should for their age.

If you are losing sleep from your own snoring, or interfering with the sleep of your partner, you should consider your snoring problematic. You should consult with a physician if you have any reason to believe your snoring may be indicative of a potential health problem.
