Yeast infections are unpleasant but not uncommon, especially when you consider the fact that up to 75% of the world’s population will experience some kind of problems with it at one point or another. If you are a pregnant woman, unfortunately you’re a lot more likely to come down with Candidiasis, the disorder most commonly known as a yeast infection. Yeast infections are extremely common during pregnancy (so don’t feel like you’re the only one). This is caused by all the changes that happen during pregnancy that change the chemical ph level in the vagina. A reduction or increase in the sugar or acid levels of the body can cause an infection. Some symptoms of candidiasis for a pregnant woman may be vaginal irritation such as a burning sensation or itching, painful and frequent urination, pain or irritation during or after sexual intercourse, swelling or irritation of the outside of the vagina in the vulva area, or a white or colorless fluid being discharged from the vagina. If you are pregnant and have some or all of these symptoms, you may have a yeast infection. The first and most important thing to do first is to go and see a doctor or physician. This is especially important when carrying an unborn child who is extremely susceptible to all the things a mother is exposed to. Avoid taking any medications that are taken orally for Candidiasis, as they can contain powerful antibiotics and properties that can be very harmful to the baby. At the last trimester when the child’s internal organs have had a chance to develop, it is much more safe to try natural or medicinal treatments to help with the yeast infection. Mothers should still stick to a topical solution and avoid the oral drugs totally until the baby is born. As with just about any issue that comes up while a mother is pregnant, it is usually a good idea to try the natural approach. While it may be uncomfortable and you may want to rush out and get the nearest product that promises to get rid of the yeast in three days, remember that the placenta absorbs everything consumed by the mother. Women who are carrying a child must do more basic things to treat and prevent Candidiasis that don’t include drugs. A diet that is high in certain vegetables combined with enough water consumed daily is one of many natural drug-free forms of treating a yeast infection. Another way to avoid and prevent yeast infections is to wear loose and dry clothing during the day, to keep the skin and infected area dry, and sleep nude at night to increase the air circulation and dryness to the affected area. Remember, the children are our future! If you are a mother, do a little research and be cautious about all the “cures” out there that could be potentially harmful to you or your baby. There are lots and lots of different ways to cure a yeast infection that don’t involve medications and can be just as fast and effective.
