Review of the Nick Colionne CD Keepin It Cool

Nick Colionne has released his most recent CD entitled Keepin It Cool. Keepin It Cool grabs your attention right from the outset with Can You Feel It and doesn't let go until the very last note of the very last song High Flyin, which is a great live bonus track by the way. Keepin' It Cool has a nicely varied, mix of 13 tracks that are very well written songs by this clearly superb artist. Most of the songs display a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Seemingly drawing from what I can only imagine are from personal experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions like love, and the pain of failed relationships can certainly be heard. Nick Colionne is one of those musicians with the ability to just win you over with his talent. The kind of artist it’s really a treat to be able to listen to. Smooth Jazz fans will recognize some of the musicians that have been assembled to play along with Colionne on this CD. Artists like Steve Cole, Richard Patterson and Lenny Castro just to name a few. Listen to Keepin' It Cool and I believe you’ll find there's not much to dis-like about it. The songs are inspired, the production is simply outstanding, and Nick Colionne's guitar work is top shelf. Of particular note on this offering is his amazing rendition of Always Thinkin' Of You. If you're even mildly into Smooth Jazz music you'll enjoy this CD. While the entire CD is really very good some of my favorites are track 1 – Can You Feel It, track 4 – If You Ask Me, and track 9 – A Moment With You. My SmoothLee Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 3, Always Thinkin' Of You. Wow!
