Review of the Dave Koz CD - At The Movies

At The Movies is the latest release from Smooth Jazz Superstar Dave Koz, and I can only think of one word to describe this CD… AWESOME! Koz has put together a wonderful salute to songs from the movies that’s not only fresh in it's approach but also pays tribute to the songs. Updating and giving them a fresh new feel. The CD is loaded with vocal tracks that are spectacular. Featuring the vocal talents of Anita Baker, Vanessa Williams, and Barry Manilow just to list a few. Each on blending perfectly with Koz and his impeccable saxophone work. Refreshingly, this was a CD that I was able to just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish. Dave Koz possesses the characteristic of being able to bowl you over with his talent alone. The kind of artist I frankly just flat out enjoy listening to. Overall At The Movies is excellent from beginning to end. One of those CDs that after a few listens the songs are just etched into your memory. A must have for the Smooth Jazz fan as it is simply sensational from beginning to end. While this entire album is really very good some of my favorites are track 1, Over The Rainbow, track 2 As Time Goes By, and track 8, The Summer Knows. My SmoothLee Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 5, The Shadow of Your Smile. Featuring Chris Botti AND Johnny Mathis. Great track!
