Is itunes the Best For Me?

Alright, you’ve decided to download some music online. But there is a whole SLEW of options! What to do! Well for many people, they turn to the most popular program… itunes. Itunes has all the artist you could want and more why shouldn’t people download from them? Well let’s first take a look at why it is so popular and then some turn offs.

Apple’s itunes is a household name and almost everyone knows about it. They have millions of songs, exclusive albums, and some pretty catchy commercials too. There is a reason itunes is number one and that’s because they pretty much dominate the market. They have done the research and knows what it takes to become number one. But there is a few things that turn me off about it.

As most of you know, itunes charges every time you download a song or music video. This can REALLY add up believe me. I have over 900 songs and a few music videos… ill admit I have a few Pussycat Dolls videos on there. Granted a lot of them were from cd’s I and my friends own but still I have spent a lot. Cost, is one thing I don’t like about itunes.

Next, I don’t like that you can’t share your songs with other friends unless you “activate” that computer. Its called DRM for short… no reason to get into lame details. Basically DRM prevents you from sharing songs and you can only play it on an iPod. Sure itunes is coming out with DRM-Free songs so you can now play these songs on any mp3 player, but apparently in an article I read today, there are a few people who have found some problems with this. You can do a google search to find difficult ways to strip this. Difficult to me doesn’t sound good… so why don’t we just avoid itunes entirely.

So sure on the outside itunes looks AMAZING! But when you get to the nasty insides and see that you cant play your song on any other mp3 player or share it with your friends, what’s so great about it?

So in my opinion I would choose a one time pay site such as this website They are a one time pay site with MILLIONS of songs, movies, games, TV shows, software… much more than itunes can offer. Now lets think about this, pay once or pay every time I want a song? Play on any mp3 player or buy an iPod? Share with my friends or keep to myself… ok not a good comparison. Get the point?

Sure itunes is amazing and you can use it to control your iPod and manage your music library. When it comes to downloading… please… take a look at other options. Luckily for you, I did a bit of research on this and evaluated a few one-time pay options. Check it out and see which option is best for you!
