The High Tech Uses of Radio Waves: Not just for listening to Music Anymore.


Mainly radio is practiced to transmit selected data to different geographical points through disjunctive media (aerial, spacial) without cables. As radio is used for channelizing sound and television signals, it is also used for transmitting data in ciphered form. It also sends out signals and pick up their reflections from the bodies in route. Some long ambit radios are used by cosmonauts to interact from other planets on earth and to channel information with them. They have there contact with their bases on different parts of the earth and with the different space ships and even between themselves with the help of the radio waves.

One of the major uses of radio is navigation. The guidance of ships or airplanes from place to place is done with the help of radio compass and time signals. Ships and planes find their easy ways with the help of these signals. Radio waves also play a very important role in the air traffic control .Pilots contact with the base stations and with the different airplanes with the help of radio, same is the case with the ships, as in the sea radio is the most important means of communication. Global positioning systems also use same signals for accurate denotation of position. They work so precisely that the difference can not be much that fifteen meters.

Digital radio either satellite or tellurian caters audio lucidity and volume too. So now a day's people enjoy wide verity of radio channels which are free from obscurity and easy to understand. The quality of being unclear or abstruse and hard to understand is the terms of gone days. Various other devices like operation of valves in the gas and water pipelines, numerous toys and movement systems in mechanical goods, different communication devices used both by military and civil purposes, are controlled by it. A device that can be used to control a machine or apparatus from a distance also uses this technology for activation and deactivation.

Very small transmitters and receivers were developed when minute transistors came into existence which became major parts of some electromechanical devices. Very small transmitters were used for spying and data transfer for different uses. Two way radios are used by security men and fire fighters to stay in contact with each other and with their bases. This helps them to work safely and efficiently. Ambulances and police vans also carry radio sets to be on safer side. Emergency medical technician uses radios to send details of wounded to doctors so they can be prepared in advance. Building labor, cultivators, fishermen and other groups use radio to communicate instructions and warnings between them. Government also uses radio to broadcast social awareness programs.
