For the most part people accept as true that the men are the ones who made all the events all over history, although sensibly women did a huge amount of it. Lots of women were stronger in courage than the men. The women were the pillars who supported the whole family. The women were the ones who were ordinary expected to take care of the families. They prepared some food; fed the family, set up camp every place they stayed, did all the cleaning and kept the families on track during their journey. The women had to stay sturdy; they could not demonstrate feeling or permit hardships to slow them down. In case there was a death along the way, they were not allowed the luxury of having time to mourn, they had to hide the body and keep moving forward. “They tended to keep away from dwelling on just what that end might imply”. They were quite alert that people may die along the way or that they will have to face awful hardships, although that was a possibility they were willing to take. They felt that the sacrifices they were making were worth the troubles along the way. “They didn’t come west for homes and safety, but for adventure and currency”. They set out to live the golden dream and they were determined to discover it one way or another. The families already had homes and a feeling of safety; they were coming to California for a new being, a voyage and expect that they would in some way discover success.
