A Kind of Isolation and its Privileges.

Consequently as the author is describing the surrounds, he is also setting the picture for the widow, how her temperament will be like, we can mechanically take for granted that her surroundings and her individuality are both linked. The loneliness and separation of the place is what made the widow's self strength of mind grow more, that she felt that it was up to her to complete this assure she had made to her son while he was lying dead in her arms. And also for the reason that of this love she had for her "deprived" and "small" son which drove her power into becoming this bitter woman living and breathing for vengeance.
It was an odd sense of vocabulary that the author used two describes the widow's son, saying he's "small" when in fact he was a grown man, this here you can inform the author is trying to stimulate understanding from the person who reads and create this expressive bond among mother and son. Nicolas Ravolti (the murderer) "deceitfully stabbed" the widows son, and then quickly "escaped that night", this is very much portraying Nicolas Ravolti as a coward and perhaps not of someone who was of much significance.
As soon as the widow Saverini saw her much-loved boy she just lay there and hut tears, and so then made her swear to him. Her mind frame seems of a intelligent woman, very strong-minded and not keen to let go of things, but nevertheless on the other hand she seems sour about the death of her son, her feelings towards the death of her son is not what is actually expected of a widow but that could also be for the reason that of the authority of her surroundings. Her surrounds had a very ominous factor to it where ships look like "nests of quarry", so this could also have a large effect on the widow’s personality.
