Each time he becomes obsessed with some woman. But hardly another beautiful girl appears; he forgets about the previous beloved and starts courting another woman. Zein is a real salesman of love.
There is a pious man named Haneen. This religious man is a good friend of Zein. This fact adds some power for Zein. And if in the beginning of the novel Zein is shown as a local clown, later he appears as a responsible member of the village community. But still he has neither beautiful features, nor an intelligent mind. But mothers in the village love him. They want their daughter to be happy and married. Zein is rich and each time he walked along the street, mothers made their daughters come and greet him. If Zein likes some girl be sure in a month or two she would be hi happy wife.
