There were lots of situations both in Old World and in New World that showed the way to a free independent Mexico. Everything in the surrounding world was transforming and modifying and surely America was no exclusion. Nations started to take in new thought and it was throughout this period that we see a swing in the international powers. Although one may notice that in the beginning of the XVIII century New Spain was prosperous in the same time it had never been more hanging upon or used by Spain. The public became tremendously subdivided, on one lucky end were the wealthy Europeans, also called as gachupines and on the rest gigantic part of population of the poor and penniless creoles.
In the span of time from 1740 to 1803 the major export to the Old World was expensive raw materials, gold and silver, nearly from 12 to 18 millions pesos. The organization of this export was owned by both: the miners, consisting generally of the Europeans, and the commercial private corporations, owned both by the creoles and the Europeans. It turned them both into the most powerful economic groups of the colonial epoch. They succeeded on the dependence of New Spain on Spain.
Not like that of the mining business the agriculture products and export was of nationwide interest. Something like five thousand huge haciendas (big ranches) that were owned by creoles were taken for state consumption. Most part of the haciendas stood on the loan alloted to them by the church, and were just about always in debt. This, together with the rental fee of possessions and taxes gathered, was one of the chief proceeds that included to the colossal wealth of the Church. The church greatly depended on the domestic economy of New Spain and the other way round.
