In Dare To Dream, author Sandra McLeod Humphrey takes children on a
fascinating journey through time as they discover the truths that
turn ordinary men and women into extraordinary, real-life heroes.

In 113 pages, Humphrey summarizes the lives of 25 American heroes;
each hero receiving equal time in four, short but powerful pages.
Each story, or biographical profile, captivates the mind and helps
children discover the true nature of heroes: commitment, courage,
determination, patience, perseverance, and attitude.

As these attributes unfold in each story (profile) told, children
learn that it's not the circumstances of one's life that defines
them, it's not the circumstances of life that dictates who they will
become-it's the choices they make on a daily basis that allows them
to become whomever and whatever they choose to be. For success is
truly in the eye of the beholder!

On a side note, had I been given a history book written by Humphrey
when I was a young child in school, I can guarantee I would have
received an A instead of a C. She does a remarkable job introducing
key historical and life changing points in each story.
