There can be many kind of cement plant but first let us know the definition of cement plant - A general definition for a cement plant is A integrated facility that prepares the raw mix, feeds it to the pyro-processing system (kiln), and then grinds the clinker from the kiln system into various cement products. Cement is transport or shipped by road, rail or barge to customers, or to regional terminals for customer pick-up. Finished cement is stored on site in large silos or bagged. Most cement plants have quarries located nearby to supply the limestone and other raw materials.

Manufacturing Process –
• Cement manufacturing process starts from the mining of limestone, the main raw material for making cement. Limestone is excavated from open cast mines after drilling and blasting, than loaded on to dumpers and rails which transport the material and unload into hoppers of the limestone crushers.
• Crushers crush the limestone to minus 80 mm size and discharge the material onto a belt conveyor which takes it to the stacker via the Bulk material analyzer. Limestone is extracted transversely from the stockpiles by the reclaimers and conveyed to the Raw Mill hoppers for grinding of raw meal.
• Cement clinker requires heat and coal is used as the fuel for providing heat. Raw Coal is dropped on a belt conveyor from a hopper and it is taken to crushed in a crusher. Crushed coal discharged from the Coal Crusher is stored in a longitudinal stockpile from where it is reclaimed by a reclaimer and taken to the coal mill hoppers for grinding of fine coal.
• Clinker is combined with gypsum and limestone and ground in a finishing mill. Where large revolving cylinder containing 250 tonnes of steel balls that is driven by 4000 hp motor. Finished cement is ground so fine that it can pass through sieve that will hold water.
We can say cement manufacturing process contain many simultaneous and continuous processes and operations with the help of many machineries.
