Glacier Blast Inc. offers building exterior cleaning by dry ice blasting. This process is the use of solid CO2 (carbon dioxide) pellets accelerated by compressed air to clean unwanted contaminates from the exterior surfaces of buildings.

Dry ice is pure CO2 in its solid state, it is in its gaseous state in the air around us. When we inhale our bodies use the oxygen and we exhale CO2. Green plants take CO2 from the air and give off oxygen. This process is safe, environmentally friendly and extremely effective. It is non-toxic, non-conductive and there is no employee or customer exposure to hazardous cleaning chemicals or blast media dust. Dry ice blasting meets the guidelines of the USDA, EPA, and the FDA.

Conventional methods, media blasting and pressure washing leave behind secondary waste streams that create short and long term maintenance costs, environmental hazards and additional cleanup expenses.

If you use sand or any other abrasive media it will remove the contaminate but the media and media dust drifts and settles in and on electrical equipment and ventilation systems. It drifts and settles on parking lots, city streets and sidewalks. The media and dust retains moisture in electrical equipment which causes corrosion and arcing, often leading to a fire. The media dust suspended in the air creates an environmental hazard to people in the area.

Pressure washing forces water into cracks, under flashing, into electrical equipment and ventilation systems. While in process water runs across sidewalks and into street drains, mist drifts across streets and parking lots. Moisture in electrical equipment can cause corrosion and arcing, which could lead to a fire. In wood structures it causes wood to rot. If not properly dried before freezing temperatures arrive water forced into cracks will cause cracks to propagate in concrete, brick, stone and stucco surfaces.

Glacier Blast's solution, dry ice blasting, is controlled by adjusting the air pressure and the volume of pellets used. In so doing water stains, paint, mold, soot, city smog build up, dirt etc. are easily removed. On the delicate side a deflector plate at the end of the nozzle causes the pellets to change to powder on impact, allowing the cleaning of even painted surfaces.

Dry ice blasting leaves no secondary waste stream. It does not create short and long term maintenance costs. There are no environmental hazards or additional cleanup expenses. In todays world it is by far the ultimate industrial cleaning solution.
