Many postcards are out in the market today. Households, offices and other establishments receive postcards every now and then. Some of which were highly regarded, while others were dismissed. If you want to have a successful postcard warmly received by your audience, then there’s no question about it. Postcards require absolute attention in order to wrap up your message in a perfectly neat package. Postcards may be just one of the various print products available for advertising and promotion purposes, but it can also be one of the most intimate. And so, it is only wise to invest in a quality made postcard. One that is both interesting and appealing, capable of arresting your reader’s attention with its quality and its content. Postcard printing requires planning and complete attention, scrutinizing everything down to the littlest detail. The postcard holds just enough room for you to pattern and piece together your images and text. It leaves little space for unwanted clutter, both in the design and content. Big versus small Postcards that are sized bigger than the usual have a spacious workable area. Small postcards, naturally, have a limited space. Big postcards can go up to a maximum of 6 x 11, the standard among commercial printers. On the other hand, the conventional and smallest size would be the 4.25 x 6. Big postcards are roomy, such that more text can written within it. Also, patchwork designs or a number of photos which can be placed in postcards would be more effective in big postcards. The space allows enough room for such images without appearing too crammed. Nevertheless, small postcards are more handy and compact. Unlike bigger sized postcards, it doesn’t appear too bulky. Its design too prompts companies to be straightforward or direct in their intentions. Thus, their messages are read loud and clear. But whatever its size, the same principles of design must be kept in mind. Some of which are: 1. Balance your design and focus on the subject of your postcard. Observe the rule of thirds and position your main design accordingly. Create imaginary lines that would help lead the eyes towards your design. 2. Use the right elements that can clearly define your product or company and those that can enhance the message you would like to communicate. 3. Use colors wisely. Colors can be a bit tricky in design. Some colors become dull when placed beside a particular color, but vibrant when paired off with another one. 4. Contrasting colors create highlights. This is especially useful for emphasizing the objects of your design. Just imagine, for example, a banana amidst a backdrop of blue. 5. Use clear fonts. Texts are meant to be read so choose a font that would fit your design but at the same time, serve its purpose well. This would greatly increase your postcard’s readership. 6. Black and white is definitely a classic. However, be sure to use an image which observes a great contrast and play with light or chiaroscuro. The balance between black, white and grays is the recipe for a striking black and white postcard. 7. Use only high resolution images for your prints. Enough said. 8. A well executed design can and will only come alive through quality printing. Let only professional printers, with years of expertise in the said industry, handle your postcard printing project. Professional printers assure you of superior quality postcards through their exacting methods and techniques.
