FIXING
So what are the basics of fitting a hinge correctly?
Firstly the hinge should be fitted in the correct place. The place is determined by the height vertically and the distance from the edge of the door on one side and the edge of the door frame on other.
In general three hinges should always be used on a standard height door.
Often a small notch, the size and depth of the hinge plate needs to be made both in the door and the doorframe so that the plate of the hinge sits flush with the surface.
The hinge then has to be fixed in place with the right size and quality of screws. The screws should completely fill the hole provided in the hinge plate, allowing them to sit flush and not protrude compromising the use of the hinge.
The screw length should be enough to penetrate the door and doorframe adequately without being too long.
While fixing hinges with screws it should be ensured the orientation of the hinge is perfectly in line with the door and the doorframe. A small deviation shall ultimately lead to improper swing of the door.
Finally hinges are a movement mechanism that have parts that constantly rub against one another. To make them operate smoothly lubrication should be applied to the hinges regularly.
A reputable supplier will be able to provide the correct screws and fixing instructions and advice.
