You have probably already heard sentence “Content is a king”. You are, I guess, also familiar with a newer one - “Content is not a king, but unique content is”. What about building local online community that will produce thousands of pages of unique content for your website?
If you didn’t see it yet, you have must at least heard about new Bond movie - Casino Royale. In a few sentences… to recoup his loss, a villain Le Chiffre sets up a high-stakes Texas hold 'em poker tournament at Casino Royale in Montenegro. MI6 enters Bond in the tournament to bankrupt Le Chiffre; if he succeeds, it will deny Le Chiffre the money he needs and force him to aid the British government in exchange for protection from his creditors. Bond meets up with Mathis, his contact in Montenegro, and Vesper Lynd, a Treasury agent, who is assigned to look after Bond's handling of the $10 million buy-in.
Now you probably thinking why for Christ sake I am talking about Bond movies and what’s the connection with generating content for you web site. Well, the reason I am mentioning this movie is because everything (or almost everything) is happening in a small Mediterranean country called Montenegro.
As already said, it is a damn small country. Around 650 thousands people live in Montenegro. Two and a half year ago some guy there created a local language based blogging service Blogovanje.com. Today, this website has about 16,400 pages indexed by Google, almost 1000 content writers and best of all, around 50,000 thousands unique visitors monthly with almost half a million page views per month.
Remember that this is European Southeastern country with very poor internet penetration – only some 12 to 16 percents of people living in Montenegro have internet access and majority of those users use dial-up to connect.
Now, imagine to have a local community based website, not necessarily blogging service but why not, for some smaller western town with good internet infrastructure and good internet penetration and content that is interesting for people living out there and staff they can’t find with “big players” websites. Imagine now, all those potential AdSense clicks. You got a picture, right?
