You Need Content, Links, and Traffic: Find Your Pagerank
I know you often take a look at the Google, Yahoo, and MSN search results, and you probably wonder what it is that defines the top-ranking websites. Well almost all of those sites have this in common: Great Content. People go online for information. The websites that offer the best content, the best information, attract the greatest number of visitors and subsequently the greatest number of quality one-way backlinks. The more relevant one-way links we have pointing to our sites from other quality sites, the higher our Google PageRank. (You can find a list of sites that provide content for webmasters on http://ledbetter.freepgs.com/wordpress/?p=524 and you can find quite a few link exchanges and directories on http://ledbetter.freepgs.com/wordpress/.)
Yes, traffic is king! We want our websites to be seen. We want our paid ads clicked. We want to make money or we have something we want to show off. We set up links to our sites and those links translate into PageRank. Linking is the major component of Search Engine Optimization.
Or maybe we are thinking of buying a link on a website or we are thinking of joining a web host. Are they worth the money? Are they reliable? Will they contribute to our PageRank? A link on a high-ranking website will boost our PageRank. A web host with a low PageRank might not be reliable. We should probably check a host's Page Rank and WHOIS before signing up for service. For example, I used to run a blog on a free host that subsequently let its domain-name registration lapse. Then I found that the free host's pagerank had been only PR2. Obviously, the webmaster running that free host had not been serious about advertising his services or about setting up links to his site.
