Ad-Aware 2007 is the newest solution in the struggle against malicious spyware software. Already the first version of Ad-Aware, with a purpose to search and destroy spyware and adware, showed extraordinary results. While we tested the programs of the same use only Ad-Aware 2007 gave us the actual results in the search for spyware and other malicious threats in your computer. Ad-Aware 2007 Free comes with many possibilities, but with restrictions in its free version, redesigned engines that should speed up the search process and spyware catching, additional definitions, support for different internet search engines and other possibilities. Installation/Uninstallation Ad-Aware is a simple application for these two operations, so it shouldn’t cause problems for the beginners or advanced users. It should take only one or two minutes. Interface/Simplicity In the download version, /www.download.hr/?/windows/file/4438/Ad-Aware-2007-Free>Ad-Aware gives us two skins to use and six easily accessible tabs for different operations. The default skin is Ad-Aware 2007 Pro skin, pleasing to the eyes, with predominantly blue/white color. The interface is elegantly arranged so you won’t lose your time and nerves looking for the operation you want. Possibilities The possibilities are vast. What impressed us the most is the search speed of infected files without occupying much of memory and processor. Ad-Aware has components that other programs of the same use don’t have. When Ad-Aware finds spyware or adware, it will give us a detailed description and analysis of the infected file. Lavasoft has been criticized for not allowing scanning in specified time, therefore in this version the authors have decided to allow computer scan in time that you specify, although in the free version we cannot use this option. In the free version there are some restrictions that are very useful, and that the authors very carefully chose. It’s about real-time monitoring (Ad-Watch) which follows the activities on the computer in real-time and informs us about found spyware or adware. Furthermore in Scan Mode it offers us three search options of which we can use only two. That is Custom Scan – an advanced option where we can choose which disks, partitions, etc. the program will scan. Process Watch and Hosts File Editor are specified for PLUS or PRO version. To be on the safe side, by the default settings Ad-Aware will make sure that the program verifies database of definitions. This option can be turned off. In case you turn off this option (which we do not recommend) you can make manual update by clicking Web Update button, and then Update. Here also we were surprised by the speed of downloading the files with last definitions. In about 3 seconds we received new definitions. There is an option that the program downloads database of definitions before every scan (we adjust this operation in Auto Scans tab). Help/Support On the official web sites you will find FAQ and Help file, if you don’t have it in your program. In the case of support center, from our experience, you won’t get an answer if you are user of the free version. Almost all questions were ignored on the part of Lavasoft or we waited even 10 days for an answer. /www.download.hr/?/windows/file/4438/Ad-Aware-2007-Free>Ad-Aware does an excellent job in discovering and destroying spyware and adware. It is designed for all Windows users. The free version will help you to prevent the spreading of malicious threats. The authors made a very smart move by adding additional restriction to the free version, therefore persuading some of us to upgrade to PLUS or PRO version. Ad-Aware is the winner of many awards and is considered one of the best anti-spyware and adware tools.
