If a supplier or manufacturer is close to an internet service provider, they may alter some of the browser settings to accommodate for that ISP. These alterations "clutter" your pc and the original installation, which may make it run slower in some cases, or cause compatibility issues with other programs. The main advantage related to this problem is that if you install your own operating system, not only do you get to choose which operating system you would like, you get a clean, fresh copy with no alterations which is how the operating system manufacturer intended.
