         Massage therapy has become increasingly popular as people search for holistic methods to treat health conditions. There are many schools that offer massage therapy training across the country and in local areas. Training programs prepare students for a career as a professional massage therapist.

    Before choosing a massage therapy training program, it is important to decide the type of massage therapy that is most relevant to what you want to do in the field of massage therapy. There are over 100 types of massage, where some focus on healing and therapy, and others focus on cosmetology of massage. Depending on personal preferences you may prefer a different training program.     Training programs vary depending on location and regulation. In most states, massage therapy and education is regulated. Regulated training programs for massage therapy require about 500 hours of formal education, coursework and clinical practice. Clinical practice consists of working in student labs as well as in the community under supervision of a licensed massage therapist.
