A Barbecue to Cure the Winter Blues

A Barbecue to Cure the Winter Blues

If you are anything like me, you are probably very ready to shake off the last vestiges of winter and announce loudly and proudly that spring is indeed here. My favorite way to do that is to have a barbecue. The very act of getting out the grill and digging out my favorite barbecue recipe puts me in the summertime frame of mind. I’m also always on the lookout for new recipes to add to my collection so I am generally quite eager to try out all the new recipes I’ve collected over the winter.

There are several reasons why my family and I enjoy a good barbecue so much, not the least of which is that I generally don’t have to do all the cooking. What can I say? I like to share the wealth when it comes to household work and everyone is fairly cooperative as far as chipping in on the cook out chores. Another great thing about having a barbecue verses cooking in the kitchen is that as utility bills rise to astronomical new heights, you can save on the cost not only of actually cooking but cooling the house as you cook. It is much more costly to cool a house when you are warming it up at the same time, trust me on this. I love to cook and don’t want to give up good food simply because it’s just too hot to cook inside the house. Having a barbecue is a great way to have great food, and be comfortable enough to eat it too.

Many families reserve barbecues for the weekend. Whatever your reason for doing this, stop. Barbecues are excellent any night of the week. They do not have to be massively complicated events, it can be something as simple as putting barbecue sauce on smocked sausage or shaking some seasoning salt on chicken breasts. You can quite easily make your barbecue grill your most used appliance during the summer months. An excellent barbecue is only limited by your personal creativity or your stock of good recipes for the barbecue grill. All you need is a good barbecue recipe and a barbecue sauce for all occasions.

Whether shaking off the wintertime blues or looking for great ways to beat the heat this summer, a barbecue is a great way to go. Arm yourself with some great recipes, some barbecue sauce, and see how jealous your neighbors will be.
