If you are new to collecting wine or have been at it for awhile this may benefit you. In this article I'll touch the basics of wine collecting and show you the exact information you need to keep track of anytime you add a new bottle of wine to your inventory. Remember before getting started have an idea of what type of wines you like and that you want to collect. Then figure up how many bottles you will drink per month and always make sure you buy more bottles than you plan to drink so you can build up your wine inventory.

When you collect wine you should pick the varieties that you like to drink and then start buying. Buying wine buy the case can save you money in the long run and also quickly build your collection. I don not recommend buying every wine by the case just the ones that you'll drink the most of. Plan for any special occasions that you may have throughout the year when you are buying wine so that you'll be prepared for any party or gathering that you may need to host or furnish. I recommend getting wines that may be consumed early and also wines that may take some aging. Having both varieties of wine will ensure that your selection will not be depleted too quickly. Make sure to stock up on wine that goes well with many meals and a few that only go with choice meals for the very same reason as before. These ideas will help build your collection while you are still able to enjoy your wine daily. When aging wine try to get the largest bottle available as this will help preserve the wine longer because the more content the bottle contains the slower the wine ages. The table wines or ready to drink wines of your collection can be from any variety and any mix as long as you and your guests will enjoy them.

The biggest part of collecting wine is keeping your wine inventoried and I'm going to show you the exact information that you need to know. First make sure you have quite a few wines notes that can be attached to the neck of the bottle while its storing. Then you'll want to take note of the following information on every wine note card. The producer or the company of the wine should be listed first. Then you should have listed the wine vineyards name and what region it is from. Followed by what country the wine was born in and next the vintage year that the wine was made. The most visible listing should be the grape variety that the wine is made of and then what type of wine it is (red, white, dessert, etc). Price of the wine and number of bottles you have of that particular kind should be listed as well. Always include the date of the wine purchase and exactly how much you spent on the wine. Doing these things will help you keep track and have a better more organized wine collection. The earlier you implement these ideas the faster your wine collection becomes more stable and organized.
