a.k.a. Keep it simple, Choosing the right one, you?re going to need help

This is the third article in this series of articles that I am writing about keeping Internet marketing simple. I know the title sounds a lot like part 1 in this series. That?s because I?m still focusing on making the right choice when you are getting started in your own home based business because I really feel it?s that important a decision. In article one I talked about picking an affiliate program that is legitimate and that inspired you. In part two of the series I talked about making sure that you really understand how you?re getting paid and I talked a little bit about watching out for misleading payment schemes.

Well here we go with part three. I know it may seem that I?m flogging a dead horse but I can?t emphasize enough how important it is to pick a good online business and believe me there are many that you will do well to stay away from.

You?re on the look out for a new business and it?s fairly safe to assume that you have very little experience with Internet marketing and as a matter of fact you may have no experience at all. You?ve done your homework and satisfied most of the points I raised in my first two articles, which I briefly touched on earlier for those that haven?t read them. So you?re off to the races. Well hold on a minute, don?t be too hasty to break out that credit card and click on that Pay Pal button just yet and yes, I?m sorry to say that most good online businesses are going to cost something to join, after all that?s how they make their money. Notice I didn?t say all, I do belong to a couple of good free to join programs that can make you some money.

Almost every online business promoter suggests that their opportunity offers an amazing income potential and all the tools that you will ever need to succeed online. Well in many cases that may be true. I do believe that if the business is a good one the income potential probably is great. If you work hard enough at any good business you are bound to do well and it?s important to remember that not everyone shares the same idea when it comes to what is and what isn?t a lot of money.

But what about the tools you?ll need to be successful? If you?ve been involved in online marketing before you probably won?t need nearly as much guidance and training as someone that is new to the experience. Lots of good companies will offer you free membership to their business for two reasons. First, it gets you one step closer to becoming a paid member and second it gives you the opportunity to have a really good look at the business before you upgrade your membership.

If you have never even belonged to an MLM or Network marketing company or any other type of online business don?t go into it with the idea that it?s easy. This is a business and it is a business that you have no experience in. You are going to have to learn about the business, how to run the business and how to promote the business. Find a company that offers solid training and a good upline. Don?t be afraid to pick up the phone and speak to the person that claims to be your sponsor. Let them know what you expect of them and in turn find out what they are willing to do for you once you have become a member of their team. Your upline should have a reasonably strong knowledge of the company and their products and if they can?t answer your questions they should at the very least know where to go to get the answers you need. Keep in mind that your sponsor may be no different than you; they may have just joined the company themselves and may have limited knowledge about the company. That?s not necessarily a bad thing everyone has to start somewhere. Nonetheless they should be available by phone and should be able to steer you in the right direction if you need help. If you can?t get your new sponsor on the phone you may want to reconsider joining. All too often you?re left to fend for yourself after you have joined your new company. At the very least your new sponsor should reply to your emails. If you can?t even get a speedy reply to your emails my advice to you is run screaming and hold on tight to your wallet. There are lots of good companies out there that offer the kind of support you are going to need you just have to find them.

Many good online companies offer software and other tools to build your business, webinars or other types of regularly scheduled training, a strong upline and administrative support. Do your homework and make sure that you are choosing wisely before you get thrown to the wolves.

I joined EDC Gold because they have an amazing training program that keeps up with the latest marketing techniques and amazing upline support. Even if I can?t reach my direct upline sponsor on the phone, I can talk personally with the company?s co-owners and founders Michael Corcoran and Craig Garcia Monday through Thursday to get answers to all of my questions.

If you aren?t getting this kind of support from your new program you should keep shopping. There are lots of good programs out there you just need to find the one that is right for you and offers the support you need.

The fourth article in my Keep it simple series focuses on the pitfalls of over doing it. I hope you?ll come back.
