1. You have no worries about going back to work after maternity leave. There is a large pressure on women these days to have it all! Have a successful career and be a wonderful Mum. You sometimes need to be a Super Woman! If you work from home you can do both without putting too much pressure on yourself. 2. These days there is flexibility to work at the times that suit you. The internet age makes it easy to work 24x7. You can contact people online anytime that you want. So if you have an internet business you can work when the children have gone to bed. The flexibility takes an enormous pressure off you. You can have both - be a mother and go to work without sacrificing anything. 3. You can choose to put your child into nursery care or take them to a child minder if you wish, but you don't have to. Therefore you don't have to pay child care fees. You may of course choose to take them to give you more time, or for them to have social interaction, but you have a choice. 4. You can be around for activities that you'd like to take your child too. These days there are lots of things to do with your children. From day one there are groups offering swimming classes, music groups, gym babes etc. It's very enjoyable to take your children to these activities so if you're working from home, you can choose when you have time off and when you work. 5. Take advantage of the available options to be able to work from home. There are so many available choices these days, so you have lots of ways to be able to work from home. Companies are actively looking for staff that can be more flexible. They are happy if you want to work at home. It saves them money as they don't need to provide you with any office space. 6. There are also some great businesses available to start creating a residual income. This means that you can start to earn a good income that will pay you when you stop working too. It's just like an author being paid royalties for a book that they have written several years ago. This was what interested me most when I started working from home. 7. It offers the ability to be your own boss, so you don't have to ask permission to take your child to the Dentist or Doctors. You also choose the hours you want to work. You can have both - be a mother and go to work without sacrificing anything. 8. A bit of a cheeky benefit is that you can be at home to do household tasks whilst you're working - i.e. put the washing on! This may seem really trivial but believe me when that washing basket starts to pile up so does your stress! Being able to do things like this whilst you're at home is a great benefit. 9. Your office is easy to reach - no commuting. You don't have to spend an hour in the car to get to work. Again it's more time you can spend with your children whilst still having a very productive day. If running your own business is something that you're interested in, then you can build a business from home without being tied to a premises that you have to go to. 10. If your child is ill you can stay at home or if they're on school holidays, you don't have to go out to work. You can imagine the scenario - you have an important meeting to go to at work, your Boss is relying on you to attend, then you get a call from the nursery - can you come and pick her/him up straight away. More stress for you as you have no choice but to leave work. by Julie Hanson, (c) 2007
