It's no secret that eBay is the easiest way to start making money on the internet. In my six years of selling on eBay and helping tens of thousands of others start and grow their eBay business, I've come up with some simple and inexpensive methods to help you win customers from your competition that I'll share with you in this article. So you found a great item, from a great source, with a great price that you can sell on eBay. Soon after you start selling it though, you start to notice competition invading your turf! What is an eBay seller to do?!? Whoop 'Em! That's right.... I said Whoop 'Em! The cool part is that there are many simple, quick, easy, and inexpensive things that you can do to outsell your competition. Here are some (not listed in any specific order)
Fast Email Response - If someone makes the effort to ask you a question about your item, then chances are they are very serious. Here are some points to remember:
When you receive the email, try to answer it IMMEDIATELY. Be in the habit of checking your email continuously. The sooner you answer the email the better. It shows you are serious, professional, and give great service. When you respond be polite and friendly. DON'T BE FORMAL. For example, if the person gives their name, use it. Start with "Hi Bob,", not "Dear Mr. Smith".
Fast Shipping - Don't you hate it when you purchase something on eBay and takes forever to receive it! One of the easiest ways to please your customers and gather a plethora (I love that word) of awesome positive feedbacks is to make sure your customer receives their item ASAP. It really isn't difficult to do. If you ship immediately upon payment and ship daily, your customer will be very happy and likely to become a repeat customer. Check out my feedback and notice how nearly all rave about my fast shipping and excellent service. That's what its all about.
Toot Your Feedback Horn! - If you have worked hard to give great service and now have a collection of positive feedbacks, are you using them to benefit your eBay business? Many people assume that a potential buyer is going to take the time to click on their name and view their feedback. That simply isn't always the case. There is a much better way to benefit and promote your great feedback. Stop and think about it. Pretend you are a buyer looking to buy a bathrobe. While looking through different auction ads you see someone who includes something like:
eBay ID Some Feedback Received For This Robe
digitalboy72 Praise : Great Deal, FAST shipping - what more could you ask for? A++
chevyjanice45 Praise : EXCELLENT SERVICE- PROMPT SERVICE !! ......AAAAA +++++++ THANKS !!
1940sfan Praise : Prompt delivery, beautiful item. Great ebay seller! Highly recommend! A+
anglswngs Praise : Great robe! Saving it for a Christmas gift!
Would you be convinced that you have found a great source for bathrobes? (This is actual feedback that I received when I was selling Turkish bathrobes. I made a KILLING on them!) Some sellers think that it is enough to expect that a potential buyer should click on your eBay ID and read your feedback. Did you know that this can sometimes be dangerous?
Four Limits To "Ordinary Feedback"
1.How do you know that you didn't receive a negative feedback (Deserved or not) that the person will see when your feedback list comes up? Ouch... that will cost you some sales!
2.If you sell different types of items, someone who is interested in buying a widget could care less that someone else left a feedback like: "Great Toy Story DVD"
3.Much feedback is generic and useless. For example, "Great seller A+++"
4.You are making the potential buyer work to convince herself that you are where she wants to spend her money. Everytime you make it harder for someone to get the information they need, the more likely you are to lose the sale.
These are just a few different ways that you can quickly be a stronger competitor.
