Get Your Kids Ready to go back to School

Preparing for School

If it is your child’s first year at school this will no doubt be an emotional time for you and your child. Many teachers are well versed in how to manage the separation of mother and child – and more often than not, it is the parent that finds it harder than the child! However in saying that, to make the process easy and fun, allowing your child to choose all of their special school things often is a great idea to get them involved and excited. Take a day to go shopping with your son or daughter and let them choose their backpack (if the school doesn’t have a set uniform backpack), their lunchbox, their school shoes (again, if the school doesn’t have a set uniform shoe) and also what they will have for lunch on their first day. This way they will feel like they have played a big part in preparing for their transition into the start of their education.

Budgeting for Back to School

Generally speaking, going back to school can cost a lot of money for families with one child, let alone multiple school aged siblings. However, there are some fantastic lay-by services which allow you choose all the things your child or children will need for school and gradually pay of the total amount over a long period of time. This type of lay-by certainly takes a lot of pressure off the family and its finances, leaving plenty of time to simply enjoy this exciting milestone in your child’s life.

Keeping Lunches Exciting

It can get pretty tricky to keep a lunchbox’s contents interesting day in and day out. To ensure your lovingly made lunches aren’t getting tossed in the bin each day, include snacks like berries, almonds, dried fruit and even a little chocolate bar. For a great alternative to sandwiches, try things like frittata, carrots and celery with dip or even mini snack packs of tuna, cheese and crackers. Don’t forget to include a juice box or water bottle so your little one doesn’t dehydrate while running around the playground!
