She possesses the magic powers of several goddesses. One of them is her unique skill of transformation. She is able to transform a child into an adult. Isn’t it the strongest power the divine woman may obtain? No doubt Mary Poppins is a great goddess. As she has so many different mythological characters, she has numerous duties. Of course, the deity Mary Poppins has her own attributes as the goddesses usually have, even the whole complex of the identities. First of all it is necessary to mention the fact that Mary Poppins is a kind of a dualistic figure. Her attitude changes from a ordinary governess to the great earth goddess and vise versa. And though she makes so many wonders, she does not admit it. For example when Mary Poppins went to her uncle house and were eating there in the air, she pretends after their coming back home that there was nothing special happened that day. Her dualistic behavior makes it easier for her numerous roles. Very often Mary Poppins becomes associated with the earth. One of the reasons is that each her arrival correlates with the change of the season. In fall the wind brings the woman to the house of the Banks, while in spring Mary Poppins leaves the family. The issues of Mary’s returns and departures are connected with the worship of the earth.
