How To Win More Competitions
Click for Readable HTML Version How To Win More Competitions by Alan Young Have you ever wondered why some people seem to win more competitions than others? Why are some people lucky, and others hopelessly unfortunate? As well as all the various cosmic and superstitious theories you can come up with, there are a few basic principles which can make you much more successful. At the end of the day, it isn't rocket science, and yes there is some luck involved - but by playing the game of probability, you can easily increase your chances of success. Let's break it down into the first major principle: firstly, you've got to enter the competition. You will never win a competition you haven't entered. If you do, chances are you're being scammed. Most people will say they've never won anything in their life, or they're so unlucky, but if you ask them how many competitions they've entered, you get to the root of the problem. By entering competitions, you will significantly increase your chances of winning prizes. Let's take it one stage further, and look at probability. If you enter one competition, and your friend enters fifteen competitions, who do you think is most likely to walk away with a prize? It might not sound earth-shattering, but it's true. It's a simple fact: you've got to be in it to win it, and the more often you are in it, the more likely you are to win it. Take, for example, our iPod competition. A maximum of 1,000 entrants every month, with one person walking away with the prize. Now if you manage to get over the hurdle of the entry question, which in previous experience hasn't been too tricky, you have roughly a 1 in 1,000 chance of winning. Now this is far greater odds than you could normally expect, but that aside - if you enter once, your going to have a 1 in 1,000 chance. If you enter twice, you double your chances of winning. A 1 in 500 chance is even more favourable. You might think it sounds a bit rich for me to advocate entering twice, but someone has to win the iPod every single month, and there's no reason why it shouldn't be you. Competitions work on probability, and if you stop and think about it, you can really work that to your favour. Play the game, and watch your chances of success continue to rise. And who knows, it could be you walking away with that iPod next month! Article source: ArticlePros.com About the author (c) Alan Young/www.Win-An-Ipod-Nano.co.uk 2006. www.win-an-ipod-nano.co.uk
