The very first and most important step to overcoming these problems and the highest hurdle is self deception. Those who live with self-deception  others for their many problems. People don't realize the most difficult problem they have in life is the battle with themselves. If you're not happy or successful is it your fault? The following six steps are a must for self-improvement. There are no shortcuts and the steps must be accomplished in order. The single most effective tool to aid individuals in leaving the old destructive behaviors is Manualized Cognitive Restructuring . This has the ability to help individuals overcome faulty thinking and behaviors.

One of the psychological differences between humans and other mammals is that humans are capable of being self aware. That is to say, they can see and accept they have faults and weaknesses. With self awareness humans have the ability to become better and change their lives. Changing habits, values, attitudes and behavior isn't easy. For example, if you desire to transform a hard-core criminal into an upright citizen the change must come from within the criminal. Criminals must accept responsibility for their behavior. If they stay in denial they will never improve. To successfully help criminal offenders, you must first make them self-aware. This making them aware" process is called reality therapy. You cannot force people to become better, however, you can force them to become self-aware. Self-awareness is the first step in changing criminal offenders into good citizens. Observe these steps to make a complete change in your life. There are no shortcuts.

Step #1- AWARENESS Self-awareness is the very first step in changing who you are. It is vital that you admit your faults. Change will not come if you fail to become self-aware.

Step #2- DESIRE If you dont want to improve, you will not ever do it. You have agency and can't be forced. You have freedom to choose. It is up to you; it's your choice. No desire=no change.

Step #3- ATTITUDE If you're aware of your faults and desire to become better you'll automatically elevate your attitude. It is your own choice.

Step #4- SKILL Although they are vital, self-awareness, desire and a good attitude are not enough; developing the skills and knowledge of how to change is also imperative.

Step #5- BEHAVIOR Master steps 1-4 and you're ready physically to do what is required. Do it for ninety days and they will be a habit. Do it for one year and they will become a part of you.

Step #6- SUBCONCIOUS As soon as you form a habit, it becomes automatic. You dont have to think about it anymore; you have made the change. Great!

If you keep on doing what you have been doing, you will keep on getting what you have been getting. If you desire to change what you have been getting, you must change what you have been doing. The first step in changing what you are is to defeat denial, bad scripting and distorted thinking This can only be accomplished by the above six-steps to change.</div>
