So What Can You Eat for a Heartburn-Free Cookout?• If you find that greasy foods bother you, stick with grilled foods and vegetables. Grilled chicken which isn’t as easy to cook as a burger, can often times taste better and be better for you with less fat than red meat.
• You can eat burgers. They are OK to have but always look for the leanest cuts and dress them up with something else less acidic than ketchup.
• Speaking of tomatoes, stay away from them. They are known cause of heartburn. Instead, stack up your salads with carrots, beans, or other milder veggies.
• For a lot of people that suffer from heartburn and gas, sodas can be rough. If carbonated drinks lead to hours of torture un-comfortableness, drink iced tea or lemonade.
• Fruits such as watermelon can be acid-producing and harsh on your stomach. If you really enjoy watermelon, limit it to a mixed-fruit salad only.
• There is plenty of food to go around at any cookout you’re invited to this summer. Take it easy and eat smaller portions. Your stomach can detect when there is a lot of food present in your stomach and therefore pumps out more acid.
