When an SSDI Lawyer is Who You Need, Only

As the name implies, Social Security is meant to provide security. So, Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) is meant to provide security in the form of monetary compensation or benefits for those who are suffering disability.

It is one of the five (5) major types of Social Disability programs in the United States. And you, or someone you knew, may want to avail of it.

The SSDI is managed by the Social Security Administration (SSA). According to the agency, you may qualify for SSDI under the following circumstances:

• You have a physical or mental disability that prevents you from engaging in any substantial gainful activity

• The condition is expected to last or has lasted at least 12 months or result in death

• You are under 65 years of age

• You must have worked 5 out of the last 10 years

The last circumstance is not required if you suffered disability at or before turning to age 22 for you can always use your parent’s work credits.

Is that easy? Not quite.

Apparent disability or incapacity to work is not enough. You must present medical evidence to prove such incapacity. In so doing, your condition may fall under one of the conditions listed by the SSA. If it does not, this is where it gets harder.

Several things will be considered. The consideration will be very technical you will not have any idea how they come up with it. It would be the least of your worries if they approve your claim. If they did not, that is where it gets even harder.

Consider this: A couple of years ago, there were a whopping 2,530,000 (give or take a couple of hundreds) claims filed for SSDI. And out of that figure, an approximately 1.5 million of it remains pending.

According to the SSA itself, for an initial application, you will have to wait at least 88 days. That’s about time to finish a round the world tour.

And the hardest part is: 64% of initial applications are denied.

Now, would you gamble to that? Don’t you think you will need a little help from an expert social security disability insurance lawyer?

You need not be told again that the process of social security disability insurance claim is complex, the waiting is long and the chance of getting an approval is slim.

Yes, the United States Social Security laws are one of the bests in the world, if not the very best. But they are best as much as they are vast, complex and continuously expanding. One needs the knowledge, expertise, training and experience of a lawyer if only to succeed in his/her claims.

Your social security disability insurance lawyer will not guide you through the process; he will do it for you. He will not only file a claim for you; he will get the approval for you. He will protect your rights and of your family. He will make sure you get what you rightfully deserve under the law.

Patience is a virtue, yes. But do you really have to wait very long?
