Caring for Pets Prevents Attacks

Large number of people became victims of animal attack every year. Most cases are dog bites, cat scratches or attack from poisonous snakes and spiders.

In the United States, 4.7 million people are attacked by animals annually. Of this number, 800, 000 people need medication for the injuries they obtained; 333, 700 were brought to emergency unit; six thousand are confined in hospitals; 12 people die from animal attack and 60% of this number are mostly children.

The statistics is so alarming. Indeed, there is a great need of providing knowledge and information about animal attack prevention especially to children who are most often the victims.

Families should be taught well on how to avoid animal attack since this is not an incident that you just cannot ignore.

Animal Attack Prevention

Animal attacks can be prevented by following safety precautions:

• Do not approach animals that are unfamiliar to you even though they are tame or friendly-looking.

• When an animal is approaching, stay calm and do not scream

• Pay attention to the animal’s behavior. If you see or feel that the animal shows aggressiveness, then you should stay away.

Threats of Animal Attack

Safety must be your priority.

It is very necessary to prevent yourself from any animal attack because it can bring you serious health problems or even lead to death.

Rabies infection, which is the most common cause of animal attack, can threaten your life. Moreover, you may also suffer from bone fractures, lacerations, scratch, cuts and wounds, which may later lead to lifelong emotional suffering.

Dog Bite

Dogs are the most favorite pet of vast majority because they are friendly and dependable guards of the house. However, there are also instances when these pets tend to become man’s enemies.

Dog bite is actually the most common type of animal attack. Statistics revealed that 4.5 million people are bitten every year and children are most often the victims.

Like other animal attacks, dog bite can also cause life-threatening injuries. Aside from that, it may also result to damages and losses: medical expenses, opportunity to earn income and emotional damage.

Pet Owners Responsibility

Negligence of owners or caretakers is the leading cause of animal attacks, like dog attack. But with proper obedience and training, this incident can be minimized. That is why these pet owners and caretakers must be watchful and must follow precautionary measures to prevent the risks of animal attack.

There are actually things that dog caretakers could do regarding animal attack prevention.

1) Make sure that your pet is familiar and is exposed to his environment while still young.

2) Train your pet to recognize the things that he will encounter every now and then.

3) Introduce your pet to people such as your friends, neighbors, among others.

4) Don’t put your dog in a cage always. He could not easily adjust to his environment once he gets out of the cage and this might terrify him or provoke him to bite people around him.

5) Create a safe surrounding for you dog. In addition, you should make sure that you have fences for safety. There is always a tendency that your dog might attack others.

6) Play with your dog. This would make him comfortable and feel that they are loved.

7) Furthermore, you should also teach your children to respect your pets too.
