At this time, having pets at home is very usual. Some people even consider their pets as a companion or part of the family. The frequent encounter with animals made humans used to their presence.


Nowadays, the result of people being used to seeing or having animals as their pet is the large number of it around people. People even made toys for kids using the image of an animal. However, though people find animals appealing, these animals have certain animalistic features that can lead to other people getting hurt.


Animal Attacks: Danger to Society


Innocent people get hurt due to various animal attacks that take place. This attack often inflicts both physical and emotional damage to the victim. Different animals including monkeys, lions, and snakes are known to be capable of attacking people, but the most common and has the largest number of incident of attack reported are dog attacks.


The 2007-2008 National Pet Owners Survey showed that at present, there are 74.8 million dogs in the country.

Rotweillers, Pitbulls, Doberman pinsher, and German Sheperd are the breeds of dogs that usually attack humans. Negligence of the dog owner is the primary reason why dog attack occurs.

Children ages 10 and below are the most common victims when it comes to dog attacks. About 77% of dog attacks on children caused facial and head injuries.

Sometimes dog attacks can lead to a person's death. In the United States, 20 people die every year as a result of being attacked by a dog. Most of these fatalities are also children


Ways to prevent Dog Attacks


Things that should be done and things that should be avoided in order to avoid dog attacks are the following:


• Dog owners should have their dog sterilized to lessen its violent tendencies


• Dog owners should train their dog not by placing a leash on it


• Dog owners should make sure that their dog is comfortable with its environment


• Dog owners should teach their children to respect dogs, as well as other animals


• Dog owners should make a secured environment for their dogs


• Do not move toward an unfamiliar dog


• Do not move when an unfamiliar dog comes near you


• Making eye contact with a dog should not be done

The legislature in the State of California ruled that if a dog attacks someone, its owner will be held liable for the incident.
