Brochures Printing: Tips for a Better Design

Just like all tasks that require artistic thinking, the most difficult part in designing your brochure is where to start. You may have an idea as of the purpose of your brochure, but sometimes just the actual act of starting may be a tough challenge to handle.

Get over with your brochure printing dilemmas and get some inspiration with these useful tips you can consider before you print your brochures.

1. Catch the Eye First

Attention is very important when it comes to designing for promotions. Design your brochure to attract attention, not to make a sale. Sometimes these two things are being confused about when designing print marketing materials. Advertisements lead customers to buy but you don’t actually have to sound like a salesman in your brochure.

Sometimes when your drop the sales pitch, more creative ideas come in to create a design that grabs attention.

2. Decide Your Brochure Size

The size matters in your design. Your brochure size would help you balance your content and design in a way that you get just the perfect integration of design elements. Determine your brochure size by identifying the contents you need to put in your brochure. If you’re thinking a company brochure or a brochure with product information, larger brochure sizes will be more suitable to use.

Print providers offer standard brochure sizes (8.5” x 11”, 8.5” x 14” and 11” x 17”) or you can opt to choose your own custom size that suits your brochure design and purpose.

3. Selling Point and Creative Process

Sell the show but don’t let your readers know you’re selling it! That’s what creative processes do to your brochure. Integrate your selling points using a design that spells out the word for you. Communicating visually is much better than a thousand words, as the saying goes. It would be much better if you integrate a compelling copy with a visually captivating design.

4. Simple Lay-Out and Quick Read Copy

Aim for simplicity and readability with your design. Cluttered designs and too many texts may exhaust your readers on first glance and lose interest right away. Keep your designs and brochure contents in a simple and light manner.

Be careful of using all caps because it harder to read capitalized words. And also, follow the rule of 8. Maintain your font size not lower that 8 to avoid unreadable texts in your brochures. It is ok to use italics but bold is more effective in stressing your points in print.

5. Design Resolution

Design resolution is not just for graphic designers. You also need to make yourself aware of this to ensure you get outstanding results in your design print. Make use of proper resolution to achieve high-definition image. 300 dpi (dots per inch) is the ideal resolution in printing clear and vivid images in print. And any image lower than 300 dpi may result to a hazy, blurry and pixilated image.

6. Create A Consistent Style

Provide a trail of thought through out your brochure by maintaining a consistent style. Use of consistent color combination and structure improves readability and creates professional look to your brochure. In order to maintain consistency in your brochure, create a design pattern that you would follow.

Put these design tips in mind on your next brochures printing and see the difference in your next campaign.
