Do you ever feel like home based opportunities are nothing but crap? I mean who wants to buy a garage full of porcelain dolphins? From stuffing envelopes to pyramid scams finding a worthwhile opportunity seems more fantasy than reality. I should know. I’ve purchased enough bat droppings in my quest to find a bona fide business. About 14 years ago I was newly married and working as a waiter putting myself through college. I needed some extra money for tuition so I took all of my savings and purchased a 500 coupon books that offered discounts on hotels. I was supposed to place them in postal stores, laundry mats, and doctor offices. I went to Staples and purchased brochure holders and beat the concrete to all of the suggested places. At a local postal shop, I purchased a mail slot and waited for the $49.95 checks to come in. Every day I would open my mailbox only to be disappointed. Weekly I would return to the offices, hotels only to find my brochure stand taken down. Apparently, the owners didn’t want my little stand hanging around. I eventually tossed my $550 investment in the garbage in disgust. I did keep one for myself and used it at a hotel in San Diego and saved a $112 bucks. Surprisingly, the card worked fine and the coupon book did work. So what was the problem? The marketing system the company sold me didn’t work. I wondered if they ever went to 20 laundry shops and placed their brochures. They probably didn’t. They probably read some outdated marketing book and thru it in their product for their distributors. So what’s the lesson? Find a product that offers a real benefit (e.g. software, video tutorials) and follow a real plan; not some hand me down plan never used in the real world. Success leaves clues. Follow them and you’ll succeed. Rich O’Brien www.rockstarmarketingproject.com/edcg.html l Make $997 per sale – follow my plan
