The 3 Fundamentals of Article Marketing


Article marketing is one of the best forms of viral marketing on the internet. You can post an article to any number of article directory services and they'll circulate your content all over the web. Not a shabby deal, huh?

Well before you break out the pen and paper to start cranking out those articles, let's clarify 3 basic fundamentals of article submissions which will enable you to maximize the return on your efforts.

1) How many articles can you submit and is there a limit to how many directories you submit to?

Altho there's no limit to the number of articles you can submit it's wise not to overly saturate these directories at any one time. A new submission every 10 days or so should suffice. Concerning how many directories you can use, spread your submissions around using as many directories as possible to ensure that your articles are being seen all over the internet. If you want to submit to 100 directories at one time great, but try to use as many different directories as possible with each new article you publish for a wider range of exposure.

2) By submitting the same article to several directories won't this violate the 'duplicate content' policies of search engines?

Absolutely not, provided what you are submitting is original content. Anything submitted to a directory that has a high ranking website is considered to be the original work of that particular directory. This is the reason most directories will not allow the posting of PLR articles, articles laced with affiliate links or articles 'stuffed' with keywords that appear out of context and simply over used. Remember, they want good content that flows naturally.

3) How can I be sure I am credited as the article author with 'clicks' back to my site?

The addition of a resource box is what will identify you as the author while also allowing you to display your site URL so that interested readers can click on the link if they so choose. Identify yourself in as few words as possible such as a description of your interests, internet experience, or your reasons for writing the article. Next compose a short, compelling reason why the reader may want to click on your link. Informing them how your product or service will benefit them is always a good start but remember to keep this section brief. Realize that what you write in your resource box is as important as the article content itself. It can be the single biggest factor aside from the article itself that attracts readers to your site.

Adherence to these article marketing guidelines should make your writing both fun and effective. Remember that your intent is to publish useful information that'll help the reader and in return you should see a substantial increase in traffic to your site and your online income.
