Discover The Meaning Of Minisites, Landing Pages & What They Mean To Your Business

If you're new to the Internet marketing trade, you probably hear all sorts of jargon thrown around on forums. Don't worry. You don't have to be a computer scientist to be successful as an Internet marketer. In fact, you may be better off viewing your position as an administrative, rather than technical, one. Rather than performing any techincal duties yourself, you may want to outsource them and instead concentrate where you are most productive: organizing the labor and resources to produce and market your products; and to deal with customers after they make purchases. Three of the jargon words you may have heard Internet marketers tossing around lately are the following: “minisite”, “landing page” and “web 2.0.” What do these words mean? Surprisingly, each is pretty straightforward. A minisite is pretty much a small site that is tightly-focused around a single topic (say, turtles or roses). A landing page is simply a page that was created for the specific purpose of capturing leads (Subscribers or customers) or making sales. Last, web 2.0 is not some new Internet you haven't yet discovered; rather, it is a word used to describe sites that allow users to generate the content (rather than the site owner, as was the case in the past). So how can you capitalize on this jargon? How can you integrate these techniques into your own business? That, too, is relatively simple. Let's start with creating a minisite. This can be broken down into a several step process. First, you select the topic of the minisite. You do this by finding a profitable topic in a niche in which there is little competition. This may require you to perform keyword research, but in doing so, you will save yourself considerable effort in the long run. Once you have selected a topic, you need to find or create content for this site. You might consider purchasing PLR (Private Label Rights) content, altering it, and putting it on your site (if you're on a tight budget). If you have a little more cash to spend, you may want to plunk it down and purchase the services of a top-notch ghostwriter, who can create original content for you. The final steps are in creating graphics for your minisite - traditionally, a Header (with your product title and some pictures), a footer (with your name and copyright details preferably) and some product graphics (like ebook covers, DVD covers and the like) Once you have a content-packed minisite, you will want to create at least one landing page. As mentioned previously, the purpose of this page is to either make a sale or to capture an email address. I personally suggest that you attempt to capture leads, rather than make direct sales as this is going to build up your customer base. Your list is the heart and soul of your business and don't ever forget it! You can start off by getting an account with Aweber; and using their services to create lead-capture forms and to manage your list subscribers. Once you have a functional landing page - which should be small and should focus on the opt-in form (the form to capture your subscriber's details) — you should then find ways to link all of your content to it. This will improve your chances of capturing more leads; and ultimately making more money. How does web 2.0 fit into this picture? In two ways. Not only is web 2.0 a great way to cut back on the amount of work you have to do as a site owner, but it's also a great way to allow customers to generate content for each other. By integrating web 2.0 features into your site such as options that allow users to post on forums, post pictures, post comments, and upload videos, you increase the chances of visitors interacting with your ministe (and creating your content). Add these features and you will see an increase in those who bookmark your site; and an increase in return visits and referrals. How does this all add up? If you want to start a successful Internet-based business, you'll need to understand some of the lingo and some of the tricks of the trade. Using minisites, landing pages, and web 2.0 are just some of the tricks you can use to improve your chances of success. Ofcourse, reading this may answer some of your questions relating to minisites, landing pages and how web 2.0 plays an integral part - but a tutorial showing you how to set these minisites up is a lot more useful. So to offer some assistance I highly recommend visiting the minisite below to see how it can further help you.
