How to Effectively and Inexpensively Stage Your Home

It is no secret that the market has been changing over the past several years. In some areas housing prices have leveled off and in other areas there has been a decline. When selling in a buyer’s market, it is more important than ever to ensure your house stands out among the competition. There are many inexpensive ways to stage a home so that it appeals to buyers on the inside and out.

In regards to staging the inside of your house, the first and most important step to take is de-cluttering the home. Making the interior as clutter free as possible allows buyers to see all of the features of your home as opposed to seeing all of your belongings. De-cluttering will also make the property appear more spacious. The next step is to de-personalize the house by removing your family and personal photos. Again, the goal is for the buyer to focus on viewing the house instead of looking at your pictures. Finally, you want illuminate the house as much as possible. Turning on all of the lights and opening all of the blinds prior to showings makes the house feel warm and inviting to a buyer instead of dark and unwelcoming.

When staging the outside of your home, start by painting your front door. A fresh coat of paint is an easy and inexpensive way to increase the curb appeal of your home. Another inexpensive method to make the outside more appealing is to get a new door mat. This gives the front of the house a clean and neat entrance to the home. Finally, adding flowers to the front yard absolutely appeals to buyers and can be done very affordably and in a short amount of time.

With these small and inexpensive changes you can drastically increase the appeal on the inside and the outside of your home to potential buyers. You will stand out among the competition in a market where setting your home apart is vital.
