How To Hang My New Dartboard

If you're reading this, chances are you have just purchased a new dartboard and are unsure how it is supposed to be hung. I'm sure there are a number of answers to this question, but we've got the regulation information.

Whether you decide to hang your dartboard in a cabinet http://www.gameroompimps.com/Cue-Racks-and-Game-Room-Cabinets.html or just stick it on the wall, these measurements are what you will need. Let's start with the distance from the floor to the bullseye of the board. Make sure you have an accurate measuring tape and go from the floor up the wall 5 feet, 8 inches. This is the mark where the center of your board will go. This is the perfect height for all players. Any higher, you would have to be throwing the darts in the air to hit the target, and that's not fun! Whenever I hang a board, I double check to make sure I measured right before I go hammering into my wall.

There, now the board is hung and you want to take a few test shots at it before your buddies come over. To get the accurate distance you need to take into account the type of darts you have. If you are using steel tip darts, the standard is 7 feet 9 1/4 inches. If you are throwing soft tip darts, then the standard distance is an even 8 feet. I always play by the rules, so I measure this out twice and then make some sort of mark on the floor.

Now, after that easy set up, you're ready to play! Make sure you don't have any cheaters in your group. Make your distance mark stand out enough that you can tell if someone is stepping over. And as always, make sure you have fun!
