Home Remedies That Insects Hate


If you enjoy the outdoors, especially in summer, I'm sure you know that bugs and flying tormentors also like to see you outside as well. Here are a few tried and true recipes to aid in the battle for the outdoors. Don't be afraid of what the neigboring campers will say about you. Bounce Sheets Place bounce sheets that you use in the dryer in your cap and let them blow in the breeze. Bugs hate the fabric odor and will stay away. Rubbing Alcohol Splash plain rubbing alcohol on yourself and allow it to dry to deter bugs from biting . And once it dries, it leaves a pleasant odor on the skin. Vicks Vaporub Rub it on your clothes.The smell is quite strong but bugs hate it. Hint: use on windy days. Marigolds Plant marigolds around the yard, the flowers emit a smell that bugs don't like. Avon Skin-So-Soft Mix Skin so Soft with equal parts rubbing alcohol and apply to the skin. Moth Balls Put out moth balls around your campsite. they are great for warding off bugs Garlic Cloves A dozen garlic cloves, finely chopped goes into 4 ounces of mineral oil. Soak for a day or 2, strain it and add 4 drops of dishwashing liquid. Dilute with half cup of water and pour into sprayer. Then let em have it. Herbal Remedy Fill a quart jar with some herbs from the mint family like catnip or spearmint and then cover with apple cider vinegar. Shake twice a day for two weeks. Strain and either rub on or spray on. Lavender Oil Rub it on your wrists, behind your ears, temples, behind your knees, and on your ankles. Smells wonderful to you but bugs hate it.
