So who cares if you didn’t get Grand Theft Auto IV when it came out? What matters now is that you have it in your Xbox 360. Does anyone miss good ol’ Tommy Vercetti? I do. But that’s not the point. The point is that you are now Niko Bellic. An Eastern European that hopped on a boat and headed to Liberty City, which feels a lot like a cross between New York and L.A. The reason Niko is in Liberty City in the first place is he wants to visit his cousin, but you soon realize there is more to Niko than wanting to strengthen family ties.
What Grand Theft Auto IV lacks in environment size, it makes up for in immersion. Never has another GTA game had so much depth. In comparison others of this franchise, or any other for that matter, feels almost 2D. On the other hand, there are many plates to spin that not only keep the game very engaging, but also very hard to keep up with. The bulk of the game will take about 35-40 hours. But if you are like me, you’ll take the side quests that add those cut scenes of violence, swearing, hilarious conversations, and Niko looking like a total bad ass as he walks away coolly from explosions. Just like in the commercials!
At this point you have probably experienced a bit of what Liberty City has to offer Niko: bowling, playing darts with your cousin, drug trafficking, going out to eat, car jacking, seeing the city, and more in game vehicular homicides than you can shake a stick at. You have probably botched up quite a few things, too. The missions get progressively harder and more complex. There are more things to do at one time, and now you have a lot of people getting mad at you because you are ignoring cell phone calls because you got caught by the cops.
So let me give you a hand on some things you can do to keep you alive and in check with everyone who demands your attention, even though this won’t help you understand a single word Little Jacob says. Some of these are strategies, and some of these are glitches in the game. And some of them are just flat out cheat codes for Grand Theft Auto IV!
Keep in mind that some of these will disable your ability to acquire some achievements (but really, who cares?)
Wanted Level Cheat
To get rid of Niko's wanted level, insert the following number into your cell phone: (267)-555-0100
Weather and Time Change
Time and weather effect game play. So to randomly change the weather and time of day, break out your cell phone and insert the following number:
(468)-555-0100.
In Game Cheat Source
Head to the internet café (or wherever you can access the internet) and insert the URL www.whattheydonotwantyoutoknow.com. You'll be brought to an in-game message board containing maps of secret locations in the game.
Fixer Upper
If your car gets horribly damaged and stalls or refuses to start, call 911 on your cell phone. When they pick up, hang up your phone, and your car should start once more!
Knock Vver an ATM for Free Money
Head to an ATM anywhere in the city and cause a traffic jam at the intersection. Wait for someone to approach the ATM and take money out of it, then snuff him. The traffic jam ensures that no ambulance reaches the injured person, so if you run a short distance away and return, you can grab the money that dead person dropped over and over again.
