Finally, it's college football season again! The Buckeyes find themselves in familiar territory, being ranked in the top five in the country. But, can they win another national title?
On paper, both the offense and the defense look the best in the country. Getting all the personnel to gel as a unit is the key. Nobody can do that better than head coach Jim Tressel! Coach Tressel has to be regarded as one of the best coaches in Ohio State Buckeyes football history. That's saying alot when you throw his name in with John Cooper, Earl Bruce, and the immortal Woody Hayes. Coach Tressel has a knack for finding a player's strength and fazing that strength into his overall game plan. Bottom line- he makes it work!
With a potent offense, they should be able to tangle with any team out there. We'll find out Sept 13th, when a storied rivalry will be reborn when the Buckeyes take on the mighty USC Trojans. Remember how it always seemed the Buckeyes were playing the Trojans in the Rose Bowl back int the late 70's and early 80's?
Players to watch this season will be Heisman Trophy candidate RB Chris "Beanie" Wells, QB Todd Boeckman, WR's Ray Small and Brian Robiskie. You cannot mention Ohio State Buckeyes football without thinking about a perennial, strong defense. It seems like every year they have the best linebacking corp in the nation. This year is no exception. With All American James Laurinatis and second team all conference Marcus Freeman, this has to be one of the best. Teams will be hard pressed to run on this combination!
With all the pieces of the puzzle in place, the Ohio State Buckeyes are poised to make a run at yet another national title.
