10 Quick Facts That you Should Know About your Body

10 Quick Facts

The human body is composed of some 60 trillion cells. The Human Brain alone holds 100 billion nerve cells. Each and every one of those cells needs fuel to function. Eat up.....

1. Did you know that every single one of those cells; bone, heart, muscle, brain, blood, is totally replaced every four to six months? So if you totally want to rebuild yourself, the nutrients that you eat are your building blocks.

2. Zinc - a component of over 200 enzyme reactions in the body. Essential for growth, healing, hormone regulation, nervous system and brain function, bone formation, energy. How much zinc is in your diet? Considering oysters are one of the only great sources of this mineral, I'm guessing you are at least on the boarder line of deficiency.

3. Oils ain't oils and minerals ain't minerals either. Zinc citrate for instance is quite easily absorbed by the body, whereas zinc oxide is notoriously difficult for the body to utilise so check your labels and try some real food.

4. Food combining diets? Don't eat carbs with protein? Does this make sense? What happens when you come across a food in its natural state when it is carb, fat and protein? Hmm. Another weird diet in the scrap bin.

5. Did you know that soybeans contain potent enzyme inhibitors that cause intestinal problems, cancer, and growth retardation. It is also high in phytic acid, which block the absorption of essential minerals such as iron, magnesium, zinc and calcium. Fermentation of the cooked bean rectifies this problem.

6. Did you know that coconut oil (extra virgin cold pressed of course) is around 50% lauric acid which the body needs to fight pathogenic viruses, bacteria and protozoa. The other major source of lauric acid is mother's breast milk.

7. The fourth leading killer in the US behind heart disease, cancer, stroke are prescription drugs. THE CORRECT DOSE OF PRESCRIPTION DRUGS. In 2005, 106,000 US citizens died in the United States from taking the prescribed dose of a pharmaceutical drug.

8. In 1990, citizens of the USA spent $37.7 billion dollars on pharmaceutical drugs. By 1997 that figure had ballooned to $78.9 billion dollars. Can't wait to see the 2007 result.

9. Cow's milk contains powerful growth hormones designed to raise a calf from 90 pounds at birth to over 1000 pounds at physical maturity two years later. In comparison, humans are born at approximately 6-8 pounds and reach physical maturity at 100-200 pounds 21 years later.

10. Did you know that a teaspoon of sugar will stop white blood cell activity dead in its tracks for up to 5 hours? Did you know there are up to 18 teaspoons of sugar in each can of soft drink.

Now that's what I call white death.
